Count your blessings

I'm kinda feeling sad so I decided that I should write my thanksgiving post now and count my blessings. I was going to do this like 5 times before, but everytime it just looked like too much work to me. Maybe I'll make a list instead of going into detail about everything.

1. My school, even though right now I'm upset with it. Oh, I'm not suppose to write that... Let's stay positive here! I enjoy how they have events to look forward to. Like banquets, trips, going to disney, and sports.
2. My classes, everyone is useful in some way. I have an epistles class that contradicts some of my beliefs, but hey, I get to talk about it with KJ later on in the day and reason why they aren't rigth =p.
Then I have my voice class, I just love the teacher so much. He's young, funny, and just makes my day. It's like therapy going to him because he tells me to OPEN UP! and don't be timid. He makes me shout things like, "stop it!" in a high voice just to see how loud I can get, haha. He makes me hold my face while I sing so I'll feel more support and so I won't move my head around. I think I might be his biggest challenge =)Oh and his wife sells MK like me. And just to mention, my next solo is "Down my the Salley Gardens" maybe some of you are familiar with that??
The last class I'll mention is my areobics class. I really enjoy it even though I feel like I might die in the middle of pushups and it's 8 in the morn. But I feel like I have more energy and it just makes me want to exercise more! huh, think of that.
3. I'm thankful that KJ is here. Who knew that someone I went to bible school with would live in my house? I only dreamed of it and the timing of it worked out very well. It's great to have her support at the church, she has pretty much taken over sunday school and I'm not complaining =) We've sung songs at church, she'll help me with my singing for my performances. Sometimes we'll just sing for the fun of it during our breaks. I have someone to watch Jane Austin movies (well, any movie really)with and go to volleyball games, basketball games, and it was great times playing football together.
4. Naomi. That's my cat. She is just the greatest thing ever and I got her just about 1 year ago. She plays fetch, we chase each other another the house, and she'll curl on my lap while I do homework.
5. Mary Kay. Even though I haven't done much with it since school has started, it's been a blessing. It has pushed me to talk to people I just wouldn't naturally talk to and it ends up being really fun and uplifting.
6. Jeremiah! This past week I've been on break and I've gotten the chance to spend lots of time with my baby cousin Jeremiah for the first time. It's nice to have a baby in the family and a close one so I can really have a chance to get to know him and be around. I would put a pic up but my digital camera has gone wacko and won't work anymore. But he's a "chunker" they say.
7. I'm thankful to be young and still in that stage of "what am I doing with my life." I haven't been stressed out by this question YET, so right now it's just fun to have my hopes, dreams, ambitions, new adventures and all that stuff. Right now I've been thinking about going into the art program at USF. Running into my old high school art teacher at the library really encouraged it. He told me how people, no better than I was, have some pretty good jobs right now and they really enjoy them.
On the other hand, mom suggests to me to go to a technical school here and work in the hospital to see if I would really like being a nurse or not. So...it's just this big unknown and it's exciting to me. I can't wait for the day when people ask me what my major is, I can say ______ instead of "um, i really don't know." Right now I just kinda want to fill in the blank and I don't really care with what!
8. Church- I'm thankful for all the members and for my pastor. It's been a blessing to have him around these past few years. Last sunday's service was very good. He talked about the parabole of the servants getting their master's talents and what they did with them. He talked about how right now we can invest what Jesus has given us so it can grow, and when He comes back He'll ask us what we've done with it. Did we just bury it and not think about it anymore like one servant did, or will we invest it into something that will bear the fruits of it. I've heard this passage before lots of times, but for some reason never could find the application to it for my life until this service. Then after that service, one of the members invited me and Kim to go to the golf driving range tonight. I haven't done that in a while, so it should be fun.
9. Mainly, I'm thankful for my parents and God. If not for them, I wouldn't be able to write any of my thankfuls on this list. Everything comes from them.

Ok, so I didn't just write a list after all. I went into detail, but it was good for me. I feel a whole lot um, less-depressed then I did when I started writing. "Praise the Lord for the Lord" as they say.

if you do enough pushups, then you can just punch people who are rude to you :-)

I call that the DJ McStrongArm method. Guaranteed to work as long as you are stronger than the other person :-)

    hope your week gets better...

That was SO good, Lisa! Way to be positive! I am so impressed. I liked hearing about all the stuff you do in your voice lesson.

It's amazing once we get going on a thankful list, how much stuff just keeps coming to mind.

Hooray for a great list! I wish I could hear you sing "Stop it" at the top of your lungs... :)

p.s. remember that soundtrack that used to be your favorite? It was on TV a couple nights ago and I thought of you (and laughed b/c I caught TJ watching a musical).

And I know what you mean about being thankful for your cat! It's amazing what having a little purring kitty in your lap will do for your soul. (Or a rambunctious, hyper kitty bouncing off the walls, as the case may be.)( Or a kitty who likes to play with the computer mouse, making it difficult for me to type this...)

And I KNOW what you mean about KJ, too! It was so nice having her here last week and getting her to sing with me in church...

    Mel- you mean MLR? hahaha.
claire- my cat does that too all the time, well she'll lay right on top of the mouse. Don't worry, your cat will calm down a little. Mine used to be wild and I felt like I was chasing around a toddler all day, but now she's just somewhat insane =)
