vacation continuation

...here I am 5 years later to tell you what I did on the rest of my vacation. The next big highlight of the week was our camping trip! I've always wanted to go camping. Not the park at the campgrounds type camping, but real camping. So I was excited to go with some procampers so I didn't have to figure things out,and it was also nice going with some not so procampers, just take a guess who. So I waited around and packed up Friday morning for Sara and Melissa to come back from volunteering at the PRC. When they got back we packed up into Melissa's car and Sara's dad and her brother Chris pack the canoes and such and got into their truck. We followed them to the Merrimack River in NH. I didn't really understand the whole plan of drifting but I didn't really care to know because it makes it more of a surprise. So I didn't know that we were loading up canoes and kayaks then just drifting down to our site, then doing it again the next moring, then again the next day. But it sure was fun and very relaxing.

Here I am in a canoe with Melissa who didn't have a hat, so the next best thing is a t-shirt of course.
We came to our spot after about 3 hours of drifting. We pulled ashore and set up camp. There was a path leading up to a field of squash above us, where we went later that night to gaze at the stars. It was nice to see them again. We made us a fire and had hamburgers for dinner and then I listened to everyone talk about the good ol'times and the pets they use to have running around. Us girls tried to position ourselves in the tents so that we weren't getting jabbed by a rock or a root in our backs. It worked out pretty good, and I felt like I got the best sleep ever, even if I felt like I was lieing down hill a little bit. In the morning some of us heard a beaver splashing its tail in the river.
After breakfast we packed up and drifted on the down the river. I was amused how I made use of the time and started to clip and file my nails. Now thats a Mary Kay consultant camping for ya. I just felt a little too distracted to burying my nose in a book, especially when the little rapids were right ahead.
The next place we set up was bigger and the ground more smoother. I think we got a better night's sleep. A rope swing was right across the river so people kept coming and using it so it wasn't the quietest place. We swang on the rope 2 times or so but there were alot people waiting around so we were done.
One cool thing was when I got in touch with my old love of fishing. My dad and I used to go when I was younger but its been a while. Sara's dad gave me some pointers and let me use his fishing pole. Once we went up to a rock across the river where there were supposibly a plethera of fish. Sara, her dad and me went and I caught 4 fish! Sara's dad did all the dirty work and threw them back in. I think maybe it was the same stupid fish latching on over and over, but thats just my opinion. That evening one of Sara's cousins joined our group of campers and it was fun watching her dad and him go at it with each other with their talk, just messing around. The next morning we packed up for the last time and drifed down to our cars. I fished a little as we drifted but with no luck.
Camping was so much fun. I kept saying that I was born for this. I guess now I have no more purpose in life. We talked about making this a yearly tradition. Maybe they'll come down and camp in Florida next time.
After camping we dropped by Fairwood to watch some of the digging up the frong lawn excitment and then went to the Lyman's to have a backporch dinner.
Monday In Rhode Island Sara, Amy and me met up with Elizabeth and spent the day with her. It was great fun and we introduced her to The Office, hehe.
I came back Tuesday and Wednesday went to a lady's house to housesit and dogsit while she went on vacation. We'll save that for another rainy day.
But the greatest current news of all is that right across the hallway is my old room now filled with Kimberly's things!!!!!!!!

The End...Or really, just the beginning.

Loved your camping stories, and though I'm jealous, I'm so happy you get Kimberly as your neighbor!

It took me so long to find myself in that picture. I thought that my head was part of the piles of trash bags, and I couldn't figure out why you were rambling on about me wearing a t-shirt as a hat if you didn't have a picture to show it. haha.

Yay for KIMBERLY'S STUFF in your house! (and Kimberly herself, of course)
