Tricycle guy!
No, I'm not happy about the tricycle guy. It's more of an angry exclamation mark. Let me explain...So,there's this guy who is about in his 50's or so, who lives on my street. Everyday he slowly pedals up and down in his shorts and button up t-shirt on my street on his tricycle with a basket in front. It all started a couple of years ago when this random man came ringing on the doorbell and I answered it. Here was this man, looked like a normal, nice kind of creature. He gave me this whole story of how he has diabetes and that he despately needed some food. Blah blah blah, it all came down to "can I get some money?" Oooh sure, what the hay. So I gave him a few dollars and he said how nice I was and then he went on his merry way. Was this the last we'll see Mr. tricycle on our porch? NO SIR! It is now a weekly tradition.
The next time around, my dad answered and he gave him some money too. Then I told my dad how he came by before asking for money. Well, my dad being the nice person that he is, can hardly say no to him and so the man keeps coming back like a stray cat, and the money keeps rollin. Then once my mom answered and actually offered to give him food, but no, he wanted the money instead. Now when Kimberly and her family were down here going to the college orientation stuff, he was right in front of my house "pulled over" by a cop. It was perfect timing, the family goes crusing by my house seeing a police car right out front. It was one of those great first impressions of my neighborhood. I think some people might of complained so the cop was giving him a warning. Since then, he hasn't come by in a couple of months. Well earlier this week Kim and I were home during lunch break and I went to take a nap. I thought I was dreaming, but was awakened by the doorbell. I got out of bed and went to the front window to see if I could see who it was. Kimberly said, "It's the tricycle man, don't answer it!" Oh dear, why is he here?? We waiting for a while and then he finally left. I went back to my nap and later Kim told me how she saw him put two drinks in his pocket. Ok, here is where I get a little fired up. We had a few packs of sodas and waters out on the porch just waiting for someone to put them away. So this guy just comes and helps himself to our drinks! Theft!!! Grr, so it's not a big deal, it's just drinks, but it was OUR drinks and he thought he had every right to take what he wanted because we "went there" to get him money! I told my mom later and she decided it was time to bring in the drinks. So today I was home for a little while and it was time to go to chapel. I open the door and there he was in front of our house. He saw me and just turned himself around. That's right buddy, you better turn yourself around. I got in my car and drove pass him and he had the nerve to turn right back around and return to his mission, to steal more drinks. Ha! the drinks weren't there and so here is my mom, who was home at the time, peering out the window and watching him. He went up to the porch and apparently saw nothing of interest to him so he went back to his bike.
Maybe I'm just a very possessive type of person (only child syndrome!) but would this not make you a little angry?? It you had something dear to you on your own property and it was just taken away by someone who tries to make your life harder than it already is?? I would like to hear your thoughts. And I know, love your neighbor as yourself and keep forgiving no matter how many drinks he takes...but still!

Wow!!!! he has some gall, that is for sure. If he tried something like that up north here, man, I don't even want to think what would happen. I don't want to think what I'd do, lol.
As for the "love your neighbor" thing, would you want your neighbors to encourage you, by absence of action, to steal and break the law? That is how I look at it. There is "tough love". I'm a big believer in that :-)

Wow. I would be soooo mad. And he actually rides a tricycle? How big is it? All I can picture is him riding down the street on a little red tricycle with dangly things hanging off the handle bars.
It was so awesome seeing you a couple weeks ago! I was also really happy we were right next door. I still am planning to check out your Mary Kay site. Once I'm finished with my Drivers Ed. and have a little more free time to work, perhaps I'll have some extra dough for stuff like Mary Kay! (Wishful thinking.)

No, it's not one of those kiddy bikes. Even though that would be sike for sore eyes. It's tall and has really big wheels. No tassels sadly.

He STARTS with "just drinks" but next it'll be your lawn ornaments, lawn furniture, a car parked in the driveway, Christmas wreaths on your door, Christmas lights, WHO KNOWS!? The list could go on... Do you have any outside pets? They could be the next to go...! Maybe you could get a pit bull to scare him away...but then, your dad being a mailman...I guess that would be ironic and...just basically WRONG.

Yes. Yes that would make me quite angry. I think you should leave some bottles of water on the porch, but flavored with lots of salt. That would be a nice harmless way of saying 'Back off Buddy!'
Claire, great comment :)

Umm.. did tricycle guy move up to kidnapping? 'Cause it has been awhile and I'm starting to wonder what has happened to you.
(Not that I'm one who should be talking about updating :)
